Hi, I’m Kate.

Yoga teacher, birth doula and mother of four, I’m passionate about yoga, meditation, and providing holistic support to women and their whānau through pregnancy, birth and postpartum care. I’ve been studying and practising yoga for over 20 years, and have trained as a Birth Doula and childbirth educator through Birthworks International under the mentorship of Cathy Daub.

My own yoga journey began following the teachings of Satyananda Yoga at the Anahata Retreat Centre in Golden Bay. In 2001, I completed a certificate in yoga studies at the Bihar School of Yoga. I lived in the Satyananda Ashram for 5 months with full immersion into the yogic lifestyle before completing further training and retreats with Satyananda Yoga.

I have received teacher’s training and mentorship with Susan Allen, one of New Zealand’s most experienced yoga teachers, as well as teaching at her studio, Yoga Ground Wānaka, and on her yoga and meditation retreats. I also work on the W.E.E Treat in Dunedin, and have trained in Hañsa rest with world-renowned yoga teacher and educator, Vincent Bolletta (nu yoga, Dunedin).

I’ve taught pregnancy yoga for the past ten years, having trained with Bliss Baby as a pregnancy yoga teacher and completing teacher’s training from Yoga of Birth through Bhakti Rose in 2022.

In March 2024, I completed an advanced birth skills retreat in Bali with birth workers from all over the world including midwife, CNN Hero and Bumi Seat founder Robin Lim, Director of Orgasmic Birth Debra Pascali-Bonaro, Mexican midwife Naoli Vinaver, and midwife Jennie Joseph. Naoli Vinaver also taught me rebozo techniques for birth, pregnancy, and the Closing of the Bones postpartum ceremony, building on my previous training with Virginia Maddock.

I am a qualified Spinning Babies Aware Practitioner, and have also completed the Breastfeeding Peer Supporter programme. In 2011, I established the breastfeeding support group where I voluntarily supported mums and whānau in the Wānaka area for over 5 years.

Since 2018, I’ve been practising and studying Mahamudra meditation with my teacher Dan P Brown in the Pointing Out Way, the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. I have attended many meditation retreats and continue to receive regular training in this lineage. Sadly, Dan P Brown passed away in 2022, and I have since been studying and training with Dustin DiPerna in the same way.

I have a wealth of experience and training in birth support, yoga and meditation.

And I’m Danielle.

Yoga enthusiast and fully qualified naturopath, nutritionist and medical herbalist, I’m thrilled to be joining Kate at Dome. I’ve always been passionate about health and wellness, and have spent the last decade gathering the knowledge and skills to help empower others towards holistic well-being.

I’ve been trained in various forms of yoga, from vinyasa to restorative yoga therapy, and am known for my slow yet invigorating yoga style. Mindfulness is a key component of my classes, guiding students to cultivate a clear awareness throughout the practice.

As a qualified naturopath, nutritionist, and medical herbalist, I have a deep understanding of health and well-being, especially the importance of movement and mindfulness in your life. I’m thrilled to bring my naturopathy background to Dome, and look forward to exploring how this can complement my teaching. Looking forward to seeing you all at Dome!

Let’s talk.

Whether you’re interested in yoga, meditation, or holistic birth support, I’d love to guide you through your journey.

“Our breath, like our heartbeat, is the most reliable rhythm in our lives. When we become attuned to this constant rhythm, our breath can gradually teach us to come back to the original silence of the mind.”
